Hey Reader! Happy Pride Month!
How is my weekend looking?!
Well... like this:
furiously typing away at my keyboard...
Today I managed to submit an application for a LGBTQI+ human rights and Sustainable Development Goals training in Sri Lanka.
I'll know in July if I've been selected. I would LOVE to go, learn, and meet some amazing humans. Please pray for me or send me your most supportive vibes! 🤗
And I sent a draft to my editor at Queerbeat, who I think was a bit pissed at me lol. But what can I say, I abhor deadlines for creative stuff. 😅 The pressure of a deadline makes me want to do everything but write. BUT hey, I honoured the deadline.
This article comes out before the end of this month! I tell stories about a few incredible men who have transitioned (FTM) in India: whether they feel powerful as men, how they navigate people's perceptions, and quite a few sweet little moments we shared.
I have taken my writing way more seriously since I claimed the label "writer" publicly last year. 😳
Tomorrow I will meet a queer person who works at a climate think tank. I'll be pitching them a foresight project I hope to pilot this summer and fall. Imagine a playful space where LGBTQIA+ people and allies gather to imagine what our lives will look like in 100 years. What's the goal? To make the Just Transition and disaster planning/resilience more equitable for LGBTQI+ people.
The day after tomorrow I will be at an in-person session on reproductive rights for men, intersex and non-binary people organised by the Asia Safe Abortion Partnership and Family Planning Association of India.
Then I'll attend a Pride March with a few friends that afternoon!
And thennnn, the best part...
I'm going to head home and make myself a cosy blanket fort to recover from all the people-ing.
But the action doesn't stop there! I have some more important pieces to write + submit and deadlines to honour in June. 😳
What's one thing you will do or have done this week to show up for LGBTQIA+ people locally or globally? I'd love to know.
Take care
❤️
